My Girlfriends House, Inc., (MGH) a non-profit organization of professional women that helps at-risk middle and high school girls in DC, Maryland and Virginia, has a new club house for its mentoring program in Capital Heights, Maryland.

The brand-new 3,000 sq. ft. club house located in the 9244 East Hampton Dr Business Park is the first program of its kind exclusively benefiting homeless and impoverished youth in Maryland or Prince George’s county. As a result of the club house being completed, teenage girls are able to participate in weekly mentoring workshops, educational support labs, workplace preparation labs, homework assistance labs and a series of creative labs designed to empower them in pursuing and/or developing their hobbies.

The new club house also houses the organization’s d-Store Boutique – a retail store that provides girls participating in the program, and their families; along with those living in homelessness, with a variety of home goods and personal care items at no charge.

“To have a club house in the heart of the area where many of the young girls we serve, live and go to school is not only a dream come true, but has made it possible for us to expand our programs,” said Veronica Eyenga, Executive Director of My Girlfriend’s House. “We have been able to add additional workshops and training classes for at-risk teenage girls, and opened our program up to more participants now that we have the space.”

RIBBON CUTTING AND GRAND OPENING of the new club house will be on Saturday, May 12, 2012, from 12-3 PM at 9244 East Hampton Drive, Suite 621; Capitol Heights, MD 20743. Ribbon cutting will take place promptly at 1pm. Light refreshments will be served. Please respond to [email protected] or call 301-560-0506 by May 5, 2012.
