Following the success of the events of the last two years, the Peter Bowron Catteshall Stroll is back for a third year and this time has ever greater ambitions by incorporating a brand new element, the Catteshall Games.

Established in 2010 by the Book People in memory of publisher Peter Bowron, the Catteshall Stroll has so far raised over £110,000 for the Shooting Star CHASE children’s hospice charity, in particular the company’s local hospice Christopher’s.

Taking place at the Book People’s head office in Godalming, Surrey on Saturday 7th July, the day‘s signature events, the Catteshall Stroll (4 mile and 11 mile) sponsored walks and the 30 mile cycle ride will be joined for the first time by the Catteshall Games, which includes three new team events:

The Catteshall Splash: a canoeing team race
The Catteshall Open: a table tennis tournament
The Catteshall Assault: an assault course to really test the teams’ fitness

With teams already signed up from publishers such as Random House, Penguin, Hachette, Anova, Pan Macmillan, Bloomsbury and – last but by no means least – The Alliance led by Walker Books and Quercus, it looks set to be a glorious competition. The winning team will be crowned Catteshall champions, allowing them to reign supreme for a whole year.

In addition, the day will be filled with wonderful food, including an Italian Feast hosted by celebrity chef Gino D’Acampo, and entertainment for children. This year the auction will led by master auctioneer Jeffrey Archer.

To top off what will be an exciting and enjoyable day for all, the Catteshall Plunge will be making its debut – featuring Little, Brown CEO Ursula Mackenzie who, provided she receives sufficient encouragement and heaps of sponsorship, will be swimming the length of the Catteshall Lake. The lake is nothing like the London 2012 Pool, but swimming it will be a feat of bravery and endurance equal to an Olympic challenge. This event has its own fund-raising target within the day and is backed by its own fund-raising drive: the “Get Your Kit Off Ursula” campaign: For further details, or to donate, visit: www.justgiving.com/getyourkitoffursula

Seni Glaister, CEO of the Book People says “This is a very special cause, undertaken in the memory of a very special man. We look forward to welcoming as many people as possible to Catteshall Manor to help us make this year's event an even greater success than ever before.”
