2014 Honda Odyssey Dubbed Best Minivan for Families by U.S. News

The minivan segment has always been geared toward growing families, but some models have evolved more than others to meet the needs of today's parents. U.S. News determined its 2014 Best Cars for Families awards by looking at how each vehicle fared in automotive reviews and safety and reliability ratings, as well as evaluating the model's interior space and available family-friendly features. When it comes to crashworthiness, the 2014 Odyssey is the only minivan with a 2014 Top Safety Pick+ designation from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), and it also boasts a 5-Star Safety Rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

"Safety is of course very important for a family vehicle, but elsewhere, the Honda Odyssey doesn't bow to conventions about what a minivan should be, and because of that, parents actually get a satisfying ride, a smartly designed interior and cost savings at the gas pump," said Mike Antosca, general manager of AutoFair Honda of Plymouth, a Massachusetts Honda dealer. After finishing last year as America's best-selling minivan among individual buyers, the Odyssey continues to gain sales momentum in 2014. Sales of Honda's minivan were up by 5 percent in February compared to the same month year, totaling 8,945 units. Year-to-date, the Honda Odyssey has moved 10 percent more models than it did in the same period in 2013, selling 16,824 units.
