Totaling more than 388,000 models sold last year, the Honda Accord remains one of the most popular vehicles in the United States, and according to IHS Automotive, no other mainstream midsize sedan is more likely to attract a repeat buyer. The Accord landed a 2014 Automotive Loyalty Award from the auto researcher last month, topping the Non-Luxury Traditional Mid-Size Car segment.
To determine its segment-level award winners, IHS Automotive looked at almost 16.5 million 2014-model-year vehicle registrations from Oct. 1, 2013 to Sept. 30, 2014, identifying the model in each segment with the highest percentage of buyers who had just owned the same vehicle. For the second straight year, the Honda Accord emerged victorious in its highly competitive category when it came to owner loyalty.
"The Honda Accord's impressive owner loyalty stems from the fact that the vehicle is still providing its signature reliability while also meeting modern buyers' demands for style and intuitive in-car technology," said Tony Pescatore, general sales manager of Chicagoland Honda dealer Rosen Honda. "The ongoing satisfaction of Accord owners is also a good indicator of future demand for the vehicle, meaning today's buyers will be more likely to get more money back when they trade in their Accord down the road."
In addition to its latest accolade from IHS Automotive, the Honda Accord was recently listed on Car and Driver's 10Best Cars for the 29th time in the 31-year history of the awards, and its 2015 model was named a Kelley Blue Book Best Buy along with the 2015 Honda Civic, CR-V and Odyssey.
