Though Audi has sold other luxury wagons in America recently, the automaker's allroad nameplate had taken a seven-year hiatus from the U.S. market prior to its return for the 2013 model year. Apparently, that absence made the hearts of American drivers grow fonder, as they rated the 2013 Audi allroad the highest in its segment in the new J.D. Power and Associates 2013 Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout (APEAL) Study.
J.D. Power gathered the feedback of more than 83,000 owners and lessees of 2013-model-year vehicles to compile its 2013 APEAL Study, which identifies the most gratifying rides in each segment when it comes to performance and design. After determining what drivers liked about 77 different attributes of their new vehicle, the auto-research firm assigned each model a score based on a 1,000-point scale. The 2013 Audi allroad earned its award with the highest score in the Compact Premium CUV segment.
"The Audi allroad is the perfect vehicle for New Hampshire drivers who need a vehicle that is not only capable and versatile enough to handle winter excursions in the White Mountains but also luxurious and sporty," said Larry Bedell, general manager of Audi of Nashua, an Audi dealer serving NH. "The model's sleek styling and engaging ride make you forget that you are actually driving a spacious wagon."
For the 2014 model year, the Audi allroad became even more capable, receiving a nine-horsepower boost in its 2.0-liter TFSI four-cylinder engine to reach 220 horsepower. Despite that increased output, fuel economy remains the same at 27 mpg on the highway, and each model provides that efficiency without sacrificing its confidence in the snow, featuring standard quattro all-wheel drive and a ground clearance of 7.1 inches.
Weekend adventurers can fit up to 50.5 cubic feet of gear in the allroad when the rear seats are folded down, while the driver and front passenger benefit from standard eight-way power front seats or available 12-way power sport seats. With options like a Bang & Olufsen sound system and the Audi connect infotainment system with Wi-Fi connectivity, buyers aren't lacking for premium features, and they can opt for more peace of mind with the Audi side assist and Audi adaptive cruise control preventative-safety technologies.
"Families will find everything they need and then some in the Audi allroad, whether it is useful space, intuitive connectivity or advanced safety," Bedell noted. "The allroad is a practical luxury vehicle that still manages to coddle its passengers at every turn."
