Marked by slim, slanting headlights and a curved waterfall grille, the daring design of the all-new 2014 Jeep Cherokee midsize SUV has prompted strong reactions from auto journalists since its debut at the New York International Auto Show in March. However, it is the opinions of SUV buyers that will ultimately determine the success of the Cherokee, and they purchased more than 10,000 units of the model last month, helping Jeep earn its best-ever November sales.

The 2014 Jeep Cherokee instantly became the brand's third-best-selling model in its first full month on sale, trailing behind only the Jeep Grand Cherokee and the Jeep Wrangler, the latter of which achieved a record November of its own with a 14 percent sales increase year-over-year. Meanwhile, the Jeep Patriot compact SUV also saw its best-ever November tally, selling 5,148 units for a 23 percent rise compared to November 2012. Overall, Jeep sales were up by 30 percent year-over-year last month, totaling more than 45,000 units in the United States.

"Jeep took a chance by stepping outside of its comfort zone with the aggressive design of the new Cherokee, and so far, the SUV appears to be strongly resonating with buyers," said Brian Duval, general manager of Concord, New Hampshire Jeep dealership Bob Mariano Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram. "Not only do Cherokee owners get Jeep's most modern design yet, but they also receive excellent fuel economy without losing the brand's signature capability for navigating New England's crazy winters."

Housing a standard 2.4-liter Tigershark MultiAir2 four-cylinder engine, the 2014 Jeep Cherokee returns up to 31 mpg on the highway while offering a best-in-class range of up to 490 miles between fill-ups. For snow-ready driving, buyers can opt for one of three new four-wheel-drive systems, while the most dedicated adventurers can go with the Trail Rated Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk, which features a one-inch factory lift, skid plates, signature red tow hooks and Jeep Active Drive Lock with locking rear differential.
