The Ford Mustang will celebrate its 50th birthday in 2014, reaching a milestone that speaks to its elevated status in American automotive history. Not coincidentally, Ford will be rolling out the sixth generation of its pony car next fall, and it unveiled the 2015 Mustang in six locations around the world earlier this month. Building on the Mustang's storied past with a fusion of modern technology and redesigned styling, the latest edition of Ford's American icon promises to deliver on style, substance and performance like never before.

Featuring a long sculpted hood and a short rear deck, the 2015 Ford Mustang harkens back to models of old, but new interpretations of the pony car's signature shark-bite front fascia and trapezoidal grille combine with narrower headlamps to create a more aggressive design. Contributing to that bolder look is a wider and lower stance that evokes a sense of power and strength. Inside, a spacious cabin with higher quality materials and high-tech standard features like the SYNC hands-free infotainment system and Intelligent Access with push-button start make the new Mustang the most comfortable and convenient version yet.

"The 2015 Mustang blends the soul of Ford's most recognizable car with modern luxury and technology in one beautiful, timeless ride," said Jeff Klein, general sales manager of Thomas Ford, a Massachusetts Ford dealer in Beverly. "Fortunately for driving enthusiasts, the upgrades go well beyond aesthetics as well, with new benchmarks in performance and fuel efficiency thanks to the new engine and suspension technology."

With an all-new integral-link independent rear suspension and a new perimeter subframe in the front, the 2015 Ford Mustang is designed to be as adept at cornering as it is at straight-line performance, while a new braking system gives the next-generation model more stopping power. Under the hood, the new Mustang offers upgraded versions of the carry-over standard 3.7-liter V6 and optional 5.0-liter V8 engines, but the most notable powerplant will be an all-new 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder. Even as the Mustang's most fuel-efficient engine ever, the EcoBoost unit is estimated to produce more than 305 horsepower.
