Subaru Doubles Donations During Sixth Annual Share the Love Event

Subaru’s Share the Love Event is now in its sixth year, and Subaru of America has announced that donations for 2013 will amount to $10 million, twice the $5 million raised during last year’s event. The first five years resulted in charitable giving of $25 million, and Subaru reports that this year’s event will bring all-time Share the Love giving to $35 million. Subaru’s sales growth in recent years has resulted in larger totals for the annual event.

When a customer purchases or leases a new Subaru between Nov. 21, 2013, and Jan. 2, 2014, Subaru will donate $250 to the customer’s selected charity. Customers can choose from five national charities, as well as a dealership-chosen local charity. The national charities include the ASPCA, Make-A-Wish, Meals on Wheels Association of America, National Park Foundation and Teach for America. Mastria Subaru, a MA Subaru dealership, has selected the Brockton Blue Dog Shelter, an animal rescue center in Brockton, Mass.

Mastria Subaru’s participation in the Share the Love event includes events in conjunction with the Blue Dog Shelter, such as microchipping each Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the dealership. Microchipping is a process that inserts an identifying microchip under an animal’s skin using a syringe, enabling shelters like Blue Dog to easily identify and locate lost pets’ owners. Other events taking place at the dealership include Christmas caroling, pet obedience demos and adoption presentations.
