Urban FLRT Making a Difference

New York based company BlackOutEndeavors LLC CEO, Corey Wesley has recently launched a new forum for those struggling with a chronic disease, 'addiction'. The new forum is known as URBAN FLRT, which stands for, 'Freely Living Real and True'. Corey developed this concept with the idea of addressing the stigma that comes along with being known as an addict. His vision is to combat the stigma wrongly associated with addiction, as well as promote a motivational slogan supporting prevention, treatment and to prove that recovery works with empowerment.

Corey Wesley readily admits he suffered from a crystal meth addiction. He knows first hand what it's like to go through addiction and recovery. He attempted various avenues including group therapy, however, he eventually sought out the path of spiritual organization and individual therapy. Although those avenues helped, he felt he needed more for his own personal recovery. That's when he started living by his motto: "Freely Living Real & True". Corey took several steps which included: 1-learning to deal with stress differently, 2-Examining who he allowed into his life, 3- reviewing what he was doing in his free time, 4- analyzing the way he viewed himself. To support him and his positive change in lifestyle Corey developed a silicone wristband to remind himself of how his life was improving through the "FLRT" motto. Some people wrap a piece of string around their finger to remember something, Corey Wesley just glances down at his wrist every time he wants a gentle reminder of his past addiction and his current path to success.

Corey knows that sobriety can seem impossible when struggling with addiction. However, recovery is never out of reach. With the right treatment and support, change is possible. Any road to recovery is never completely smooth.
