New Lexus RC F Performance Coupe Unleashed at Detroit Auto Show

Lexus has spent the past few years revamping its lineup to appeal more to the hearts of drivers, and its exclamation point was recently unveiled at the Detroit Auto Show in the form of the all-new 2015 RC F performance coupe. Based on the new RC coupe, the F performance model features Lexus' most powerful V8 engine, which churns out more than 450 horsepower and more than 383 pound-feet of torque.

While its new 5.0-liter 32-valve V8 may be the focal point, the 2015 Lexus RC F is designed to make the most of its impressive output elsewhere, incorporating a Torque Vectoring Differential with Standard, Slalom and Track operating modes that optimize handling and steering response. Power is transferred through an eight-speed Sports Direct Shift (SPDS) transmission with paddle shifters that is newly calibrated to improve linear throttle response. Outside, the RC F echoes its aggressive underpinnings with an exaggerated, black-mesh version of Lexus' new spindle grille and inspiration from the Lexus LFA supercar, including air vents, cooling ducts and an active rear spoiler integrated into the trunk lid.

Should the RC F land outside the price range of some luxury buyers when it goes on sale this fall, even the entry-level Lexus CT hybrid is available with an F SPORT package for edgier styling and performance. The 2014 Lexus CT F SPORT offers responsive handling through its F SPORT-tuned suspension, while exterior upgrades include a black-mesh spindle grille, a new solid-black roof, revised fog lamp surrounds and a new rear-spoiler design with cutouts. Inside, drivers receive aluminum sport pedals, metallic dash trim and a perforated-leather steering wheel and shift knob.
