Range Rover Earns Polk Loyalty Award for Sixth Straight Year

The Range Rover SUV may have shed about 700 pounds as part of its 2013-model-year redesign, but this year's Polk Automotive Loyalty Awards indicate the vehicle is still pulling its weight among existing Land Rover fans. With the 2013 Range Rover topping the Luxury Full-Size SUV category, the model has now been recognized nine times in the 18-year history of Polk's awards, including six straight segment wins.

Determined by more than 7.4 million households that purchased or leased a new 2013-model-year vehicle, the Polk Automotive Loyalty Awards honor the vehicles in each segment that had the highest percentage of buyers who returned to either the same model or the same make. The 2013 Range Rover features a new all-aluminum unibody structure for improved agility and fuel economy while incorporating the next-generation Terrain Response 2 system to customize its ride to a variety of driving surfaces. Outside, the latest Range Rover sports a more modern look, receiving new styling cues like swept-back headlights and a sloping roofline that were first popularized by the Range Rover Evoque compact SUV.

"Though the new Range Rover has sleeker styling and a much lighter curb weight than past generations, the SUV is as athletic and luxurious as it's ever been," said Dave Edwards, general manager of Land Rover Peabody, a Greater Boston Range Rover dealer. "That mix of modern sensibility and classic capability allows Land Rover to attract new buyers to the brand while retaining its valued longtime customers."

The Range Rover continues to grow its customer base each month, with U.S. sales of the SUV reaching 1,340 units in December for a 30 percent increase year-over-year. For all of 2013, Range Rover sales rose by 56 percent compared to 2012, and the model's popularity at dealerships last year helped the overall Land Rover brand set a record with more than 50,000 units sold, a 15 percent jump over last year.
