2014 Ford Transit Connect Lands Best-in-Class 30-MPG Highway Rating

Currently rolling out to dealerships, the redesigned 2014 Ford Transit Connect van was already offering best-in-class cargo space, but now its buyers can take comfort in knowing they can balance that versatility with leading fuel economy. The EPA recently rated the 2014 Transit Connect van at a best-in-class 30 mpg on the highway when equipped with its optional 1.6-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine, topping the Nissan NV200 by five miles per gallon and the Ram C/V by four miles per gallon.

Returning up to 22 mpg in the city and 25 mpg combined, the EcoBoost-powered 2014 Transit Connect van is predicted to save its owners an average of $250 in fuel costs over five years compared to the NV200 and $1,750 compared to the Ram C/V. Those savings also come along with more class-leading specs, including 130.6 cubic feet of cargo space, a maximum payload of 1,710 pounds and a towing capacity of 2,000 pounds when the Transit Connect is properly equipped.

The 2014 Ford Transit Connect van features standard dual sliding doors that make loading a simpler process from either the driver or the passenger side, while the front passenger seat can fold forward to create a flat workspace for a laptop or paperwork. Buyers can also opt for a rearview camera as well as the Reverse Sensing System and Forward Sensing System, which both sound an alert when an obstacle is detected in front or in back of the vehicle. For staying connected along a route, the 2014 Transit Connect is available with a 6.5-inch touchscreen with navigation and the SYNC with MyFord Touch infotainment system, which enables hands-free phone calls and music streaming.
