Ford to Let Fans Size Up Its 2015 F-150 with Built Tough Test Contest

Handful of Winners to Push New Aluminum-Bodied Pickup to the Limit

As America's best-selling pickup truck for 37 years, the Ford F-Series has earned its reputation as the toughest truck on the market. Yet when Ford announced that the all-new 2015 F-150 would feature an aluminum-alloy body, questions about the truck's signature durability and power arose. How would the lighter body stand up to the rigorous everyday challenges many Ford F-150 drivers face, and how would the truck's overall performance change?

Ford will be letting F-150 fans answer those questions for themselves through its new Built Tough Test contest, which will let up to five lucky drivers push the 2015 model to its limits before the next-generation F-150 arrives in showrooms late this year. Drivers who want to participate can detail exactly how they would prove the new Ford F-150's toughness at http://builttoughtest.com, and Ford will give each winner a 2015 F-150 to drive for up to one week, along with a camera crew that will film the various tests each truck faces. The videos will then be posted on the Built Tough Test contest's YouTube page, demonstrating to the world that the latest F-150 can stand up to any obstacle. Contestants have until May 31 to submit.

"Ford knows that the F-Series is America's best-selling vehicle for a reason, and this contest will give Ford drivers a chance to see for themselves that the new 2015 F-150 is just as tough and powerful as its predecessors," said Steve Nilsson, general manager of Glenwood Springs Ford, a Colorado Ford dealership near Grand Junction. "The new F-150 is not only tougher than ever but also smarter as well, with the promise of significantly improved fuel efficiency and a variety of intuitive technologies."

By including high-strength, military-grade aluminum alloys in its body, the 2015 Ford F-150 is up to 700 pounds lighter than the 2014 model, allowing for new projected benchmarks in fuel efficiency, towing capacity, and acceleration and braking times. The 2015 F-150 will also be available with four engine options, including the new 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 with standard Auto Start-Stop, as well as the diverse set of trims and packages that Ford fans have come to appreciate.
