Big Reub Filmz Brings Love, Life and Tears to the screen with "Past Tense"

Writer/Producer/Director Reuben 'RJ' Johnson (Big Reub Filmz) just wrapped up filming, "Past Tense". A film based on a personal story. Reuben felt strongly about getting what was in his heart and mind on to the screen. "Past Tense" tells the story of love, devotion and friendship. "With 'Past Tense' I wanted to show that platonic relationships do exist between a man and a woman. I am very proud of the way Azana (Kinnik Sky) sticks to her values in her relationship with her best friend, as well as her fiance'", Reuben stated. "Kinnik is a wonderful actress who brought her all to the film." Also starring in "Past Tense" is actor, Trae Ireland. Trae plays one of the leads in the film. "I cast Trae Ireland in this film because of his presence. I thought he had an incredible presence, as well as the allowance of having some vulnerability in the character. He channeled a heart-felt emotion in this film", said Reuben regarding his casting choices.

Also cast in "Past Tense" is the phenomenal Rhonda Morman. Reuben Johnson had been talking to her for about 2 years in regards to playing the role of the mother. Since this film portrays a real life experience involving Johnson's mother, he thought of no one else but Rhonda Morman for this role. "Rhonda was perfect to play the role of my mother. We had discussed her attributes prior to filming. Rhonda did such an amazing job; when you see the film it will take your breath away", said Reuben.

Writer/Producer/Director Reuben Johnson (known as Big Reub) is enjoying a successful career in film. Writing, producing and directing is his passion. Since the young age of 14 when he saw Spike Lee's "She's Gotta Have It", he knew he was destined to be a film maker. Having been enamored with the way Spike Lee shot all the different characters, Reuben was inspired to start his own film company. Big Reub is CEO and founder of the L.A. based film company, "Big Reub Filmz". He's already experiencing success with his films being placed in film festivals across the film gamete. Recently shown at the San Diego Black Film Festival was his film, "Beyond Merritt", which Reuben directed himself. "Big Reub Filmz" has a lot coming up. Currently in pre-production is a short film entitled, "Mirror Mirror". Reuben Johnson is ready to direct his next film, "MEI I PLEI" (May I Play) with the wonderful writer Deshon Beverly Johnson.

"Past Tense" is slated for release in March of 2014. Big Reub is preparing to send this film off to film festivals world wide.
