Baby Jaymes (Jay Lyrie) is a well known singer-songwriter and music producer, known for his 'Ghetto Retro' style of music. Baby Jaymes makes no secret about his enthusiasm and excitement of the resurgence of vinyl with the Hipster scene in Oakland and other areas of California. Known as a 'vinyl enthusiast' Baby Jaymes is the owner of over 1,500 vinyl records himself. On Friday, April 18th, 2014 Baby Jaymes will be releasing his debut single, a vinyl cover of 50 Cent's "21 Questions" during a release party.
Baby Jaymes announced a release party for Friday, April 18th, 2014 at the Legionnaire Saloon, 2272 Telegraph Ave., Oakland, California from 10 p.m. until closing. He will introduce his cover of "21 Questions" during the party. Baby Jaymes' label "RET Records" is planning to release two more vinyl singles before the end of 2014. Following the release party, Saturday April 19th, 2014 Baby Jaymes will attend "RECORD STORE DAY" which is an internationally celebrated day observed the third Saturday of April each year. It's a day that joins together fans and artists as well as thousands of independent record stores across the world. With this modern day of technology and so much available for download on the internet, Vinyl records are making a come back. Baby Jaymes is very pleased to be part of bringing vinyl back to life.
Raised in Oakland, California Baby Jaymes likes to come home to his roots. Whenever he can he believes in supporting local talent and giving back to his community. He hopes to inspire youths who are interested in music to follow their dream. Baby Jaymes believes, "Never give up and trust the universe". Although Baby James is based in Los Angeles, CA., he travels back and forth to the Bay Area frequently. When he's not in the recording studio working on his Ghetto Retro jams, Jaymes has branched out into the film industry working as Music Supervisor. Recently, Baby Jaymes worked on Actor/Director Big Spence's film, "Set Me Free" which premiered at the 12th Annual Oakland International Film Festival in the Bay Area. "Set Me Free" left Baby Jaymes wanting to further explore his creative side in film. He's looking forward to doing the music supervision for the next Big Spence film, "American Dream" which is slated for release summer 2014.
