REVTECH Accelerator – the Dallas-based seed fund and venture accelerator dedicated to restaurant, retail and hospitality tech – challenged startups in May to compete for the People’s Choice Prize by managing a successful crowdfunding campaign. Newly announced winners include ShoppeThat, TrunkMonkey, Malesh Activewear and Yallzi.
These participating startups raised the most capital through emerging crowdfunding site and REVTECH alum, LaunchLeader. The winning participants each will receive a $3,000 investment from REVTECH for one percent of founder’s equity and a two-minute elevator pitch to investors at REVTECH Pitch Day in September, as well as remote participation in REVTECH workshops. To date, all participating companies in the mass crowdfunding through LaunchLeader have raised nearly $500 thousand, including investment from REVTECH Accelerator.
REVTECH’s competition encourages these startups to initiate crowdfunding to build their Minimum Viable Products (MVP) or prototypes. By raising capital through crowdfunding, startups demonstrate why their product or idea is worth the investment.
ABOUT THE START-UPS
Cyclists no longer have to struggle with bicycle transportation. TrunkMonkey – the inflatable, portable bike carrier – gives cyclists access to a new way to travel with their bicycles, avoiding damage to car and bicycle while providing frictionless contact and secure attachment to the vehicle. Easy to store while riding, cyclists can bring the TrunkMonkey anywhere. Running a successful Kickstarter campaign, TrunkMonkey has raised over $40,000 so far since its initiation.
ShoppeThat is a user-friendly platform that connects buyers and sellers through ecommerce. ShoppeThat allows users to bulk list items as well as import feedback from websites like Amazon and eBay. Other features of the website include social sharing and original online store creation. Users can choose from six different store plans when registering with ShoppeThat.
With positivity and female empowerment as inspiration, Malesh Activewear offers stylish, comfortable fashions for curvy women. Malesh Activewear caters to sizes 12-24 and combines yoga-inspired looks with modern simplicity for women on the go.
Yallzi allows businesses and consumers to discover, connect and experience the world. Both an app and engagement platform, Yallzi helps people navigate new cities and assists businesses in sharing information to create memorable experiences. It’s more than a review platform: it creates dialogue, engagement and connections for its users.
These four startups have the opportunity to take their businesses to the next level. REVTECH’s competition offers support, mentorship and education to the competition’s participants.
