“DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – A violent car crash in downtown Dallas early Wednesday ended with four people being taken to the hospital. It happened shortly before 2:30 a.m. on the eastbound side of the Woodall Rodgers Freeway service road near the intersection with Akard Street. The scene was located right near Klyde Warren Park. According to the report, police say that the driver of a truck crashed into an SUV after going through a red light. Two people inside of the SUV sustained injuries and were taken to the hospital for treatment. One of them, the driver was reportedly listed in critical condition at the time of the report. Another person who was riding in the vehicle was also taken to the hospital but was not determined to have been injured.

The Dallas County Sheriff’s Office said that the truck driver had been involved in a hit-and-run accident a few blocks away prior to the crash. He currently faces intoxication assault charges on at least two counts.

Witherite, who is not connected to the recent Dallas car crash case, says “circumstances like those in this case where a driver was involved in multiple accidents in the span of a day are unusual, but have happened before. What is important is that proper investigations are carried out for each incident so that the facts are known, and liability can be properly assessed.”
