Americans have to stop returning to their pre-pandemic pastimes – eating out, flying, planning vacations, and buying swimsuits post-vaccination, and traveling to most countries during the pandemic is uncalled for.
Level 4: ‘Do Not Travel’ Warning
The State Department has refreshed its movement warnings to all the more likely reflect the guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, it said, implying that as of Tuesday, around 80% of nations are currently a "Level 4: Do Not Travel" on its advisory.
The association cautioned that the Covid pandemic "continues to presenting phenomenal dangers to travelers," even as Americans are progressively immunized and prepared to get on a plane.
"In light of those risks, the Department of State strongly recommends U.S. citizens reconsider all travel abroad," it said in a new notice Monday [1].
Due to Pandemic and Other Threats
A year ago, the department circulated a blanket "Level 4: Do Not Travel" warning, the first of its sort, to ask Americans not to travel abroad as the Covid-19 cleared throughout the world. The notification was lifted last August. Alternately, the committee instituted individual statements for each nation once more, reflecting the local hazards from the pandemic and other threats, like terrorism, crime, or trouble.
Second Wave Covid-19 Cases Increasing Rapidly in Many Countries
Many countries, such as India, are seeing tremendous spikes in cases of COVID-19, and the World Health Organization has reported that the average number of cases said daily globally is now higher than it has ever been.
But the State Department's new reports are not because there are spikes in the majority of these nations, it said, but sooner an "agreement" to using the "CDC's existing epidemiological evaluations" in each country independently.
Before the declaration, just over 16% of countries had a "Level 4: Do Not Travel" warnings from the State Department, and most of those were for severe threats -- ongoing dispute like in Afghanistan or Iraq, bloody unrest like in Myanmar or Haiti, and threatening administrations like in North Korea or Iran.
Vaccinated? Still, Be Cautious!
With mounting cases and new variants, the CDC is requesting even vaccinated commuters to be cautious. "Because of the current situation in India, even fully vaccinated travelers may be at risk for getting and spreading COVID-19 variants and should avoid all travel to India," it said in its new notice for India late Monday -- official language for all nations at its highest-level alert [2].
All travelers, including U.S. citizens, are currently expected to provide a negative COVID-19 test before being able to board a flight to the U.S.
