Scottish Water issue update on discolouration of water across Lanarkshire - Glasgow Times

READERS in Lanarkshire may have realised their tap water is a strange colour today.

According to Scottish Water, it's due to the natural levels of manganese present in the water supply.

The issue has become apparent due to the record low reservoir levels as a result of the lack of rainfall.

Scottish Water has confirmed this has never been an issue at the Daer and Camps water treatment works which clean tap water before it is distributed to homes.

The organisation is also introducing additional treatment methods to help mitigate the discolouration issue.

Scottish Water said: "Please be assured that we are doing all we can to get things back to normal for affected customers. We thank you for your patience and understanding.
