Writing Center open for in-person, virtual appointments - The Torch

"Whatever you want to work on is what we will work on during your appointment."

Help from the Writing Center is not limited to formal essays.

"You can make an appointment for all types of writing," Henry said.

"It really helps that the Writing Center is so flexible with how we can meet," said freshman Luke Shelly. "As a commuter student, some appointment times are not available to me, but I now have a wider range of when I can meet with someone to get feedback on my essay."

In order to become a Writing Center consultant, students must first be recommended to the Writing Center by a professor.

"My favorite part of [being] a writing consultant is watching students improve on their writing on their own," Henry said.

"Since working as a consultant, I have really enjoyed watching writers understand where they need to improve," Schwartz said. Walk-in services are available Wednesdays from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. along with Thursdays from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. According to Henry, walk-ins are mainly meant to focus on smaller sections of writing, like specific sentences or paragraphs in a work.
