Householders with ongoing discolouration problems from Cavan Hill supply urged to log it with Irish Water - LMFM

One resident had to run their tap for 40 minutes to get clear water, councillors were told

Councillors in Louth have been told there is still an issue with manganese at the Cavan Hill waste water treatment plant, which supplies the Dundalk area and some outlying areas.

Irish Water has been carrying out a flushing programme for a number of months in a bid to address discolouration issues.

At Louth County Council's monthly meeting, the local authority's Head of Finance and Water Services Bernie Woods also said that any households which are continuing to experience problems with discolouration, should log them with Irish Water so it can investigate the pockets where it's still occurring.

She was responding to Fianna Fáil Cllr. John Sheridan who said one constituent had sent him a video of what he claimed looked like waste water running from the tap.

He said he wants to ensure the plant is in a position to cope with the additional demand on supply ahead of the rationalisation of the Tallanstown water treatment plant.
