Water outage planned for McFie construction project - KRWG

LAS CRUCES, NM - Residents on the following City streets will experience a water outage from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 16, 2021.

The streets include:

  • Second Street, from McFie Avenue to Van Patten Avenue.
  • Brownlee Avenue, from First Street to Second Street.
  • Van Patten Avenue, from First Street to Second Street.
  • McFie Avenue, from First Street to Second Street.

The water outage will enable Morrow Enterprises to complete water line tie-ins as part of the McFie Avenue reconstruction project.

Adjacent areas also may be affected by the outage. If water on your street is scheduled to be turned off, City crews will post a door hanger notice a minimum of 24 hours in advance.

Once service is restored, residents may notice discolored water due to iron, manganese and calcium deposits. Although the water is safe to drink, City officials recommend waiting for the water to become clear before washing laundry.

The discoloration should disappear within 24 hours. If it does not, residents should flush all faucets in their house for five minutes. If the discoloration remains, call the City at 575/526-0500 for assistance. The TTY phone number is 575/541-2182.

Information from the City of Las Cruces.
