Title favourites and five times former champions Young Muslim Football Club (YMFC) consolidated their position at the top with another win, this time over South East Central Railways (SECR) Headquarters, Bilaspur in the ongoing JSW-NDFA Elite Division League Championship. The narrow 1-0 win made YMFC clear leader with 19 points from seven games and six wins. The victory also confirmed YMFC’s spot in the four-team Super League round. The architect of the victory for YMFC was their dependable and dangerous forward Fahad Junaid who bulged the net in the 26th minute to score his eighth goal of the competition.

Junaid easily converted the spot kick after Akshay Singh was tripped down inside the rectangle resulting in a penalty kick. The railmen have now suffered their third defeat and are at sixth spot in the 10-team competition. In another match, newly-promoted Manganese Ore India Limited (MOIL) XI pipped Nagpur Blues by a solitary goal scored by Pravin Bhalavi (46th). On Friday: Rahul SSA vs Ansar Sporting at NDFA Stadium in Suyog Nagar at 2.30 pm.
