An international driving license is essential if you often travel abroad, and it can be handy if you plan to do transport-related work in foreign countries. An international driving license can be easily obtained in Pakistan, especially if you already have a state-issued driving license which makes the process simpler and easier. If you don’t know the process, here’s how to apply for international driving license in Pakistan:
State-issued Driving License
If you have a valid driving license issued by the state, the process of acquiring an international one becomes quicker, otherwise, you must visit the local licensing center to apply for it.
Note that the international driving license can be acquired from the same center you got your state-issued driving license. Also, if you have just received your local driving license, you can immediately apply for an international one the next day.
Getting an International License in Islamabad
If a citizen of Islamabad needs an international driving permit, they should visit the Citizen Facilitation Centre in G-11/4. It takes seven days and costs Rs.1,050. An urgent international permit costs Rs. 2,050 and is ready in 24 hours.
Required Documents
Two passport-size photographs.
A copy of your driving license issued by the Islamabad Traffic Police.
A photocopy of your passport (valid) and visa (valid).
A photocopy of your CNIC of the applicant.
Driving stamp of Rs. 30 from the Post Office.
Proof of residence in the federal capital.
