What will happen to PM Office social media accounts after PM Imran Khan is voted out of power - Geo News

KARACHI: With the Opposition flipping the MQM-P in favour of the no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan, it was all but over for the ruling PTI.
The MQM-P’s decision to quit the ruling party’s alliance meant that the Opposition now has the 172 votes needed to oust the premier and form a government.
With the change of government expected, it also means that the ruling PTI will have to hand over the official documents and records to whoever comes in power next.
The PTI, before forming the government, had used social media effectively to further its narrative and build a case for being voted into power.
Similarly, after forming the government, the PTI created social media accounts of the Prime Minister's Office and other top officials. These accounts have also been verified by Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube, respectively.
However, recently, in an eyebrow-raising move, the Prime Minister’s Office’s YouTube account was changed to “Imran Khan”.
The channel that had a verified tick when it was named Prime Minister's Office no longer has that after the name change. According to YouTube's rules, the verified tick of a channel disappears after it is renamed.
When the change occurred, Geo.tv reached out to the General Manager of the Digital Media Wing of the Government of Pakistan, Imran Ghazali, who had said that the YouTube channel was managed by PTI’s social media team.
“PTI’s social media manages [the YouTube channel]. We only have Twitter and Facebook accounts....
