Haryana: Cow vigilantes gather with weapons in show of strength - Times Now

Nuh: Cow vigilantes gathered at a ‘Hindu Mahapanchayat’ with some of them carrying guns, swords, and axes in Haryana’s Sangel village in Nuh district on Monday, reported The Indian Express.
At least three men were seen carrying guns, which were licensed weapons, claimed bearers.
According to the people gathered there, they had responded to a call for gathering on social media to mark their protest against a local politician belonging to Congress, Mamman Khan, who reportedly said, “gau rakshaks will not be allowed to enter.”
The people gathered at the ‘Mahapanchayat’ made several demands including the formation of a district-level committee to look into increasing cases of cattle smuggling.
They also demanded the administration to confiscate property and vehicles of people accused of cow smuggling and auction them and the amount to be given to cow shelters.
The main demand from the group came with the establishment of fast-track courts to hear the cases of cattle smuggling. Further, arms licences for ‘gau rakshaks’ should be made and FIRs against all ‘gau rakshaks’ should be withdrawn.
The cow vigilantes also reportedly said that they would commence a ‘jail bharo’ andolan, where they will give voluntary arrest if there is no action on their demands and will not stop until their demands are met and cow slaughter is stopped completely.
The people participating in the Mahapanchayat, mostly belonged to groups like Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Bajrang Dal, and Gau Raksha Dal.
