The newsroom audience team has two new leaders and a new London search editor. Michelle “Mitch” Dozois will be the team’s next deputy, overseeing the London and weekend audience editors as well as audience editors on Well and Metro. Victoria “Vic” Niemeyer will lead the team’s editorial search efforts and Anna Schaverien, a longtime news assistant in London, will be our first-ever London search editor. Please join me in congratulating all three editors.
As the deputy audience director, Mitch Dozois will partner closely with me to ensure we are spotting and seizing the biggest opportunities to grow and engage readers from around the world. A veteran of the discipline — Mitch joined The Times as a member of the inaugural audience team in 2014 — she knows the answer to virtually every audience-related question you may have. She’s a connector (of both people and ideas) and she’s generous with her time and her insight.
“Mitch has brilliant news judgment and a shrewd understanding of audience,” Cliff Levy said. “She’s been a great partner to editors and reporters across the newsroom.”
In her role as a senior audience editor, Mitch connected the audience team and the newsroom analytics team both with each other and with audience editors across each desk, rolling out a suite of automated monthly reports, training editors on a suite of new tools, and helping them interpret metrics like new readers.
