Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States Masood khan has said that Pakistan-US Health Dialogue held at a Ministerial level on July 25 had both symbolic and substantive significance and would pave the way for broader engagement on trade and investment, climate change, agriculture, science and technology and tech sector. “This dialogue is a trend setter”, he said.
He made these remarks while addressing the inaugural session of the first, in-person Health dialogue, after Covid 19, level.
The day long dialogue discussed establishment of Pakistan Center for Disease Control, global health security, childhood immunizations, pandemics, regulatory regimes, maternal and child health and nutrition and non-communicable diseases.
The Pakistani delegation was led by the Health MinisterAbdul Qadir Patel and the US side was led by Atul Gwande, USAID’s Assistant Administrator and high-ranking representatives from the Departments of State and Health.
The Ambassador thanked the US Administration for its proactive diligence to make the dialogue a success.
The Ambassador also highlighted a proposal for collaboration between the private entities of the two countries for establishing partnership in vaccine manufacturing.
Masood Khan urged the participants of the conference to look at Pakistan as an investment opportunity and hence a destination for US Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in the fields of healthcare, hospitals, pharmaceuticals, diagnostics and healthtech.
