Dr Lennox Superville was born on June 10, 1942, in Fyzabad, Trinidad. He had to deal with his mother’s terrible death from a heart attack while attending Nelson Street Boys’ R.C. School in Port of Spain, Trinidad. He was a seven-year-old child who had to deal with this sad news alone. Even now, remembering his mother brings tears to his eyes. After completing his studies at Nelson Street Boys’ R.C. School at the age of 13, he enrolled in Osmond High School 5th Street San Juan, Trinidad, and Tobago, to prepare for the General Certificate Examination (GCE) O’ Level exams. He started his teaching career in 1961 when he joined the teaching staff at Immanuel’s High School Barataria, T&T, as a Mathematics instructor, after clearing various GCE O’ Level courses.
Dr Lennox Superville started working at Hunter College in New York City as an adjunct professor in 1972 and started teaching mathematics there. He was promoted to tenured assistant professor in 1978.
Additionally, he gave lectures on biostatistics for nurses at St. Joseph College in Brooklyn, New York, in 1978 and basic programming at Columbia University in the City of New York, NYC, in the summer of 1977. He was also the editor and author of Basic Skills: Arithmetic and Algebra, A Modular Approach (1978, 1979), written for first-year students entering CUNY through Open Admissions (CUNY Open Admissions history). In addition, from 1978 to 1979, he served as co-chair of the CUNY Mathematics Discussion Group Journal.
