Tessa Arnold, Co Founder and COO of Snapback Energy- a company forged and staffed by veterans, is giving back to veterans and communities in need through awareness and foundation programs that have become an integral part of Snapback Energy.
From the very beginning, the company has been intertwined with family and the military, with 3 of the 4 founding members having served in various branches of the military. Tessa’s late husband Michael and his Father Joe ‘the Colonel’ Arnold founded Snapback Energy together back in 2016, with cousin and CFO Reilly Cobb, himself a US Navy veteran.
As Tessa’s late husband Michael returned home from active duty combat he experienced great difficulty trying to assimilate into a more corporate workspace. As his friend, partner and wife, Tessa cared deeply for her husband and strived to support him in his journey to find a new stable career. Michael found the best avenue for him to live his life comfortably was to start fresh as an entrepreneur, following in the footsteps of 2.4 million other veteran-owned businesses, which led to the creation of Snapback Energy.
For Tessa, Michael’s passing became more than just a call to action to make Snapback Energy successful but a call to action for awareness. With the death of her husband, Tessa knew she had to provide a strong foundation for her two young children who would need her full support and care after dealing with the loss of their Father. Looking to her children, Tessa took on a new journey to support her family, forging ahead with Snapback Energy.
Today, Tessa Arnold not only continues to fulfill her late husband’s dream of growing the company into a successful business that provides people with a product that improves their quality of life, but she is actively engaged in providing support systems for veterans and communities in need.
Specifically, Tessa sponsors veteran programs like the Catch a Lift Foundation, the Michael Arnold Foundation, CrossFit veteran programs as well as mental health awareness programs. Snapback Energy donates two percent of its earnings to the Catch a Lift Foundation, which is a program that connects veterans with basic necessities like hygiene kits and provides them with transportation to places they need to be, such as job interviews.
When sponsoring veteran programs Tessa draws inspiration from her time working at one of the world's largest investment firms, which ran an outreach program to integrate veterans into the banking workforce. Tessa found the veterans there were able to translate their experiences and work ethic in the military into highly efficient and communicable positions at the bank. She also draws inspiration from other companies that help veterans in a similar manner as her.
Tessa, a strong believer in archetypes, compares her late husband’s warrior struggles with those of her own, a healer. She shares the strides she makes in her physical and mental health with others in her community, citing her search for daily moments of joy as her salvation from grief. She also gives back to those working on the frontlines of the healthcare industry, such as first responders and nurses, regularly sending them free samples of Snapback Energy.
Branching out from the company’s work with Veterans, Tessa is sponsoring a golf tournament in order to promote cancer awareness and raise donations which will fund research at John Hopkins University in respect to sarcoma, which is a rare type of cancer.
Tessa attributes the success of her outreach programs, sponsorships and foundations to the balance she has created in her life, which is also an integral part of the Snapback Energy ethos. Before embarking on this journey of success with Snapback, Tessa felt she was in a tailspin, the grief of her loss affecting both her mental and physical health and making her feel as though she was just a passenger in life, that was totally at the mercy of the world. She says she was completely unaware of the strength, determination and potential joy she had waiting inside of her.
Through all of her efforts building Snapback Energy into a growing company and giving back to veterans and communities in need, Tessa has found a need to share with people that the only limitations we have are self imposed.
“I believe in this so much because it's not about selling you something that you don't need, it’s about providing awareness of what your body wants. It's gifting you this magical thing that not only tastes good, but helps you balance your life, and gives you energy,” says Tessa. “Having a product that I truly believe in, that allows me to give back to the communities that made it a possibility, gives me everything I need to carry on with this adventure.”
