When thinking about high-end audio speaker systems, people usually envision large surround sound systems consisting of multiple units that take up almost the entire room. While these systems are indeed an audiophile’s dream, they can’t be used in all situations and may not be suitable for smaller dwellings, such as dormitories and apartments.
After ten years of intensive research and development, North Carolina-based Fyssion Audio Company has created the INIO speaker system. The INIO, which is short for INtimate audIO, takes the capabilities of large surround sound systems and condenses it into a pair of three-inch speakers. This allows the INIO to be used in various applications, such as watching TV, listening to music, and PC gaming. It comes with a Bluetooth transmitter that plugs into the source device’s audio output jack, as well as stands that allow the speakers to be placed close to the listener.
The INIO uses Fyssion’s patented Audio Recovery Imaging Amplifier (ARIA) speaker technology that allows it to perform at an extremely high level, providing exceptional clarity and transparency. ARIA creates a large, yet rich and fully detailed image with a three-dimensional quality. ARIA amplifies all source recordings and allows the listener to hear details of the music that are normally lost due to room acoustics, recovering them with new energy and depth. This is especially true of older mono recordings. ARIA, which is used in all of Fyssion’s products, brings the listener on an adventure of rediscovering all their favorite artists in a fresh, new sound.

This natural sound does not induce psycho-acoustic fatigue, allowing people to listen for hours on end. Because the sound reproduced by ARIA is so organic, the brain doesn’t have to compensate for manipulated audio frequencies. Due to organic results, Fyssion has acquired the registered trademark “Organic Audio ®”.
INIO has a Close Proximity Sound system that creates a “cocoon” of sound around an individual, allowing them to hear the audio with surprising clarity, even at lower volumes. This solves the problems encountered by people who are hard of hearing, who often need to set the TV volume to a very high level to hear what’s being said, to the inconvenience of other people at home. Using INIO, they are able to understand the sounds from the TV even with the volume at a normal level for all others in the room.
According to Joe Crosswell, co-founder of Fyssion Audio, the initial idea for INIO came from a custom audio chairs project, such as those used in a home theater or gaming systems. Fyssion ended up not producing that chair commercially because there was not much demand. However, they realized that they could use the technology to create a compact speaker system that provided the same outstanding experience at a more market-friendly price point. Now, customers can turn their favorite recliner or sofa into an audio chair.
DIVA speakers
Fyssion Audio was founded in 2008 by Joe Crosswell and Bill Godwin, two inventors and audiophiles. Pursuing their passion for sound, they developed the ARIA technology for more than a decade, eventually gaining a utility patent for it. Aside from the INIO, Fyssion also developed the DIVA, a set of customizable speakers. The customer can choose the DIVA’s driver size and axis, baffles, and hardwood or leather finish, as well as the option to use the Bezalel driver, which is a combination of ARIA and Magnetic Arc Oxidization Process (MAOP) technology, the latter of which is used in many top-of-the-line speakers in Japan. All of Fyssion’s products are hand-made in small batches at its workshop in the mountains of North Carolina and come with a three-year warranty.
Joe has stated, “Our mission behind Fyssion is ‘to bring high-end audio to the world at an affordable price.’ A great discovery in the INIO line is that it provides a quality of life benefit to those with hearing issues.”
