Just a young lady enjoying her summer days with her grandparents. While assisting her grandmother with household chores, she stumbled upon a life-changing moment. Captivated by a television program featuring therapists aiding patients, this young lady found her calling.

Dr. Racine Johnson, with over three decades of experience under her belt, and establishing Johnson Therapy Services, has carved a niche for herself and been an inspiration as a black female-owned entrepreneur. Reflecting on her career trajectory, she says, “If you would’ve asked me before I discovered physical therapy, I was quite determined to become a teacher or nurse. But being a physical therapist and occupational therapist is a good combination of both.” This duality of roles, intertwined with her innate desire to educate and empower others, became the cornerstone of her professional ethos.

Dr. Johnson’s journey was not without obstacles, including a life-altering car accident that forced her to reevaluate her path. However, adversity served as a catalyst for change, driving her toward higher education. Her determination to make a difference led her to make a bold decision and opt for a unique dual Master's degree program at the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences, Florida at the age of 35. She immersed herself in both occupational and physical therapy. The completion of her studies marked the beginning of a new chapter, one fraught with challenges and triumphs. Despite personal setbacks, including the loss of her grandfather and a near-fatal car accident, Dr. Johnson remained steadfast in her commitment.

Although having financial constraints and self-doubt, Dr. Johnson’s determination never wavered. “Dealing with chronic pain was an educational journey as well as a health and wellness journey,” she reflects. Through perseverance and resilience, she not only overcame her own obstacles but emerged as a stronger advocate for holistic therapy practices that include occupational therapy, physical therapy, massage, and motivating clients to go beyond therapy and to adopt a fitness journey.

In addition to her personal journey, her previous role as a physical therapy assistant led to her witnessing firsthand the transformative power of rehabilitation. Dr. Johnson’s approach to therapy extends beyond traditional methodologies, emphasizing the importance of personalized care and empowering her patients. Drawing from her own experiences, she addresses physical ailments while working on her patient’s mental and emotional well-being. “I am my patient, and my patients are me,” she asserts, encapsulating her philosophy of empathy and understanding.

Dr. Racine Johnson has expanded her skills to include Life and Business Coaching. The doctor has also created her line of Natural Skin and Body Care products including facial and body sugar scrubs and body butters and a pain-relieving muscle and body rub. In her pursuit of excellence, Dr. Johnson continues to expand her horizons envisioning adding speech therapy services for both children and adults, now in search of a speech therapist. Her dedication to lifelong learning is evident in her endeavors, from her plans to develop a stretching manual for home use to pioneering cognitive rehabilitation programs.

Beyond her clinical work, Dr. Johnson is a passionate advocate for personal growth and development. She is actively involved in community outreach programs and is committed to expanding access to quality healthcare for all individuals, regardless of their background or circumstances.
