One of the greatest allures of engaging in any form of entertainment is the sensory experience it provides. From watching a nostalgic film, playing an immersive game, or appreciating the electric energy of live music, entertainment offers both a form of escapism and a pathway to enhanced connectivity - making it a fundamental component of an individual’s daily life. While the fast-evolving entertainment industry continues to offer new developments in this space, HapTech Holdings Inc. (HTH) pioneers innovative technology to make the experience infinitely more engaging and effortlessly more interactive.
With an exclusive line of insoles, slides, pedestals, and floor mats, HTH allows users to integrate a sense of ‘touch’ into their visual and audio experiences - all through the feet. The flagship insoles and slides are designed with piezoelectric material and represent HTH’s vision to leverage modern science and technology to take entertainment to revolutionary new heights.
“Our technology converts audio waves into signals that can be felt throughout the entire body - also known as haptics,” adds Brent Williams, Co-Founder, and CEO, “Users can experience realistic sensations through our precise vibration feature, which can also stimulate the texture of various terrains and the proximity of other objects.”
In the world of gaming, the possibilities are endless. By simply connecting the product to a Bluetooth-enabled device and applying pressure on the piezo material, the enhanced sensory experience begins.
“If you’re watching a streamer,” continues Brent, “it’s as if you’re right next to the action, and if you’re playing for yourself, you can fully immerse yourself into the game.” The products can also be used to increase awareness and improve gameplay by supplementing the audio and visual experience of virtual reality with the missing link: touch and feel.
When listening to music, it’s not uncommon to feel a physical manifestation of the enjoyment it brings. However, with HTH technology, cultivating such a feeling may not require ‘listening’ to music at all. For the deaf community in particular, this opens the door to a realm of new possibilities, enabling individuals to truly ‘feel the music’ in a more precise and intimate way.
“Our feedback from the deaf community has been overwhelmingly positive,” says Brent, “with many being able to identify which song is playing, from its feeling alone. You can feel each sound differently, the guitar feels different to the drums, which feels different to the piano, and each individual voice that is featured in a song.”
During the development of the first generation of HTH products, a representative from the Bay Area International Deaf Dance Festival - based in Northern California - came on as an advisor after utilizing the technology to choreograph dance routines. Rather than having to memorize the feeling of a song as a collective (by paying close attention to a shared speaker), each member of the dance group was empowered to feel the music as they moved, in real-time, through insoles beneath their feet. Not only did this speed up the learning process but it granted them the ability to experience a sense of listening and interacting like never before.
HapTech’s Haptic Insoles
Beyond the deaf community, HTH has garnered the attention of prominent figures on the entertainment scene, including West End theater producers, international streaming platforms, and award-winning singer-songwriter Sia. As the organization becomes increasingly recognizable by its groundbreaking products, it continues to explore further revolutionary applications of its technology; notably in live entertainment venues, where HTH floor mats - now in development - hold the potential to transform the live event experience.
Tech-oriented and community-driven, HapTech Holdings Inc. strives to create more enhanced and accessible experiences in the world of entertainment. Despite the organization’s recent inception, it has quickly established itself as a leading player within this space, bringing a fresh new perspective on sensory-enhanced entertainment experiences and their vast modes of application.
