Recently, the Jinghe Bridge, part of the Dongzhuang Water Conservancy Hub in Shaanxi Province, which is being constructed by China Railway 20th Bureau Group, has made significant progress with the installation of its steel box girders, as it prepares for opening to traffic.

The Jinghe Bridge spans a total length of 284 meters and is approximately 200 meters above the Jing River. It is a “Zhongcheng”-type space Y-shaped steel box arch bridge, which is the first of its kind in China. The bridge’s design features a Y-shaped structure in both the plane and elevation views. This innovative design breaks away from the traditional two-dimensional arch rib structure and adopts a new model where both main and auxiliary arches share the load in a combination of single and double arches. The bridge’s structure is a three-dimensional curved arch, which presents significant construction challenges. The arch components have already been successfully lifted and installed.

Once completed and open to traffic, the Jinghe Bridge will become a key transportation node for the Dongzhuang Water Conservancy Hub and an important scenic bridge in the Guanzhong Gorge tourism area. The travel time between Lixian County and Chunhua County will be reduced from the original two hours to just 30 minutes, greatly facilitating travel and improving the quality of life for residents of both regions.

Additionally, upon completion, the project will help address sedimentation and flooding issues along the Weihe River, the largest tributary of the Yellow River. It will contribute to ecological protection and high-quality development in the Yellow River basin, with significant long-term impacts on the preservation of the upstream environment, regional environmental improvements, county-level integration, and the high-quality economic development of the area.
