Nationwide home care agency, Guardian Angel Carers, is celebrating the achievements of no less than four separate franchises. Each has been selected as a winner in regional categories at the 2025 Business Awards UK, with the accolade of being named the Best Home Care Provider in their region or Family Run Business of the Year.

Guardian Angel Carers Banstead, Lincoln & Newark and Reading each hold the title of Best Home Care Provider in Surrey, Lincolnshire and Berkshire, respectively, while the franchise in York won the Family Run Business of the Year category, which included nominees from across North Yorkshire.

The Purpose and Prestige of the Business Awards UK

Business Awards UK was created to recognise excellence in organisations across the sectors. It celebrates the diversity of UK businesses and enables smaller or independent companies to compete with larger and more-established firms, which are often better able to participate in fee-based awards schemes.

Regional awards cover 46 counties, with entries judged independently based on merit. The judging panel considers factors such as:

  • How each business differentiates itself from competitors

  • The quality of testimonials or case studies

  • How examples of each business's work represent the best in its relevant trading space

While not specific to the care sector, and with awards categories that range from business leadership to accountancy, there is a defined number of Care Awards, with Guardian Angel Carers scooping four wins for Best Home Care Provider, having been assessed against all nominees from each county.

Guardian Angel Carers York was selected as Family Run Business of the Year, North Yorkshire, competing against a large number of entrants from other industries. The team, as with all Guardian Angel Carers territories, is locally run with support from the National Office, and is owned by sisters Debbie Burchall and AJ Jane.

The awards themselves are considered among the most sought after, given that businesses cannot influence the outcomes by purchasing different tiers of entry, are evaluated solely on the services they provide, and must provide verified case studies to evidence their work.

Guardian Angel Carers Responds to Multiple Award Wins at The Business Awards UK

Managing Director Vikki Craig-Vickers, speaking on behalf of Guardian Angel Carers National Office, said, 'It was incredible to learn of award after award being presented to our wonderful franchisees from around the country, and to see how much this recognition of their dedicated work means.

While we only work with franchisees who embrace our commitment to delivering exceptional quality care, it is always great to have an opportunity to celebrate the standards we hold ourselves to, and to hear the feedback care recipients have given, which has made each territory stand out to the judges.’

Business Awards UK uses a scoring matrix to arrive at the winners in each category, ensuring impartiality, with a diverse panel of judges from the worlds of film and TV, digital marketing and ecommerce. In categories with low entries, the awards body invites additional nominees and entrants, which means winners are always judged against at least a minimum number of competitors.

Preeti Kale, business owner of Guardian Angel Carers Reading, comments that this makes their win even more special, saying, ‘Every award we achieve is down to the respectful care services our CareAngels deliver each day, and we’d like to thank our teams working in the community and in other areas, such as care coordination.

The award is hugely appreciated, and we’re proud to have been named Best Home Care Provider Berkshire based on the uplifting experiences families have been happy to share, and to see that the Business Awards UK judges have understood what makes us unique.’

Co-owner Debbie Burchall, responding from the York franchise, echoed the sentiment, saying, ‘Being able to own and run a values-based home care team right here in Yorkshire, and in partnership with my sister, is a privilege, and we're beyond delighted to be named Family Run Business of the Year North Yorkshire.’
