Burgers Carrosserie, established in 1925, has launched a new generation of its Double Deck trailer alongside a coordinated international rollout, extending the company’s reach beyond its established European base. This move highlights Burgers’ strategy to provide high-density transport solutions to a wider customer base, while reinforcing its dealer and service presence abroad and supporting local regulatory approval requirements.

“This launch represents our commitment to designing vehicles that minimise environmental impact and to collaborating with customers so that efficiency becomes a shared benefit. We view engineering not as showmanship but as stewardship: small decisions that compound into meaningful change for drivers, businesses, and communities,” says Burgers CEO Jeroen Naalden.

Founded in the early 20th century and developed across multiple generations, Burgers has evolved from a family-run workshop into an integrated manufacturer and lifecycle partner for commercial transport clients. By maintaining design, assembly, and maintenance under one roof, Burgers customises trailers to suit specific business operations and ensures continuity of care throughout extended service lives.

The company supplies major retail distribution networks and specialised carriers, supporting every product with comprehensive dealer training and a cross-regional service network to ensure technical assistance is available wherever the trailer operates. Its in-house engineering and research team continuously refines designs and facilitates bespoke prototyping for complex operational needs.

The newly introduced Double Deck trailer is engineered to unlock significantly more usable cargo volume within the same external dimensions, while maintaining ease of servicing and regulatory compliance. Designers have repositioned pneumatic, braking, and electrical systems into compact side modules and wheel housings, freeing up the floor space for two-level loading.

This structural innovation allows for denser loading configurations and smoother integration with warehouse docks and handling equipment. Configurations are highly customisable, with options including plywood interiors, insulated builds, rigid or steer axles, and refrigeration systems with separate temperature zones to accommodate diverse cargo types.

Beyond increased capacity, the Double Deck solution addresses persistent operational challenges such as limited pallet density at docks, high per-trip operating costs, and fleets that are not optimised for rapid distribution cycles. Each trailer is equipped with a telematics smart box that offers remote location tracking and predictive maintenance data, safe transport, enhanced scheduling, and vehicle availability. There are also other safety features included. Burgers complements this technology with targeted investment in dealer education, enabling local partners to perform complex repairs and homologation adjustments swiftly, thereby minimising customer downtime.

The company anticipates that the combined advantages of higher cargo density and connected fleet management will yield significant environmental and commercial benefits. Transporting more goods per journey can reduce fuel consumption and lower the emissions intensity per delivered unit, while also decreasing the total number of vehicles required to maintain throughout.

These operational efficiencies can reduce running costs, improve fleet availability, and support a relatively swift return on investment in higher-density equipment. Burgers is concurrently developing cold-chain variants and dock-optimised models to expand suitability across food logistics and other temperature-sensitive supply chains, while continuing research into telematics and remote diagnostics.

Burgers Carrosserie reaffirms its dual commitment to pragmatic innovation and reliable service. Built on a heritage of craftsmanship, a vertically integrated production model, and a product designed to reimagine volume utilisation, the company declares its readiness to collaborate with operators worldwide in pursuit of smarter, more sustainable transport solutions.
