Block Island’s iconic Blue Dory Inn announces Ann Law’s transformative retreats and her following the launch of the book “The Law of Wellness”. Ann Law, author, wellness advocate, and longtime innkeeper, is unveiling two transformative experiences this October that combine her life’s work in healthcare and hospitality. On October 11, Law will hold the first signing of her debut book, The Law of Wellness, at the Island Free Library, 9 Dodge Street, Block Island. Just two weeks later, from October 24–27, she will host her inaugural wellness retreat at her historic property, the Blue Dory Inn, located on the island’s shoreline.

“I have always believed that health is freedom,” Law said. “With it, you can make any choice you want in life. Without it, your options shrink. My book and retreats are about showing people that lifelong health is not only possible but achievable.”

Law’s career spans decades, beginning as a family nurse practitioner trained before she became a successful entrepreneur and innkeeper on Block Island. Her dual backgrounds in medicine and hospitality inspired her to create a bridge between wellness education and immersive experience.

Her book, The Law of Wellness, is rooted in the principles of food, fitness, and mindset. Drawing from her own research and personal experiences, Law emphasizes that a significant percentage of wellness comes from nutrition. The book combines scientific knowledge, practical advice, and more than 80 plant-based recipes designed to make health both attainable and enjoyable.

“My goal was to make it simple,” Law explained. “I didn’t want a book full of intimidating medical terms. I wanted people to be able to pick it up, read it, and say: ‘I can do this.’ That’s why I call it a life plan, not just another diet.”

The upcoming retreat at The Blue Dory Inn will bring those principles to life. Participants will explore Law’s three key pillars of health, mindset, nutrition, and fitness, through interactive workshops, guided exercises, and plant-based meals crafted from the recipes in her book. Attendees will also have opportunities to engage in yoga, strength training, and group discussions designed to reinforce sustainable habits.

“Everything starts with a thought,” Law noted. “Your mindset determines the choices you make, what you eat, how you move, even how you handle stress. At the retreat, we will show people how to harness that power for lifetime wellness.”

Block Island, with its natural beauty and tranquil setting, provides the perfect backdrop. The Blue Dory Inn, a Victorian-era property built in 1890, has been a beloved landmark on the island for decades. Its beachfront location and historic charm offer guests both comfort and inspiration.

Law sees this as the beginning of a larger movement. In the coming months, she plans to expand her outreach by hosting similar events in communities nationwide. “I envision pairing book signings with retreats in areas where people are already interested in wellness,” she said. “Palm Beach, Long Island, Providence, Fort Myers, these are all places I’m looking forward to bringing this message.”

With her background in healthcare, her passion for prevention, and her commitment to making wellness accessible, Law is determined to inspire lasting change. “People often say, ‘If I had my health, I would do this and that,’ and then list the dreams they have put aside,” she reflected. “What I want them to know is, you can have your health, and once you do, you are free to live the life you have imagined.”
