More than 4,000 Foreign Exhibitors Seek Opportunities in China through 8th CIIE

The 8th China International Import Expo (CIIE) is being held in Shanghai from November 5 to 10, featuring 4,108 overseas enterprises. Over the previous seven editions, the event has attracted 23,000 overseas exhibitors in total, which demonstrated their firm commitment to the Chinese market.

Feeling the Pulse of China, Sensing New Consumer Trends

The Chinese market is strongly attractive to global enterprises for its gigantic size and potential to be further upgraded, and the CIIE is exactly a window into the voices of Chinese consumers.

According to Andrea Corradini, Operations Director of PAMA Shanghai, this Italian machine tool maker set up a production base in Shanghai's Lin-gang Special Area 15 years ago to ensure fast delivery to Chinese clients. "China's rapid development demands an even faster response and supply chain from us," he said.

The CIIE also helps bridge overseas companies and Chinese consumers. "The CIIE gives me the opportunity to engage deeply with various partners, discuss collaborations, interact with consumers of all ages, and listen to their needs and expectations," said Toshinobu Umetsu, CEO of Shiseido China & Travel Retail. "Their feedback directly shapes our innovation, strategy, and drives product localization."

Joining an Innovative China, Exploring Diverse Application Scenarios

China's vast market is becoming a hub for global innovation, and 461 new products, technologies, and services are making their debut at this year’s CIIE. This dynamism is further evidenced by the event's historical data: approximately 3,000 innovative showcases, more than 23,000 overseas exhibitors, and a cumulative intended transaction volume surpassing $500 billion .

For international companies, China offers not just a market, but a fast-paced ecosystem where new technologies rapidly find diverse applications. Frank Meng, Chairman of Qualcomm China, illustrated this point, noting that the CIIE has chronicled the full arc of the company's technology—from the early display of a 5G test platform before global commercialization to its current products and the ongoing evolution from 5G-Advanced toward 6G.

Furthermore, China's dual-carbon goals unlock massive opportunities, creating a large-scale testing ground for global green technologies. Echoing this trend, Sony emphasizes sustainability in its manufacturing. "Many technologies Sony has showcased at the CIIE have gained significant traction and are steadily becoming commercial reality," said Takeshi Yoshida, President of Sony China. "We look forward to further collaboration on this open platform to jointly shape what's next."

Rooted in a Land of Opportunities, Committing to Long-Term Growth

The CIIE's clear message of openness—underscoring China's commitment to improving the business climate, strengthening intellectual property protection, and advancing institutional opening-up—has reassured foreign firms to expand their presence in the Chinese market.

“Having worked overseas for years, I can say that no other exhibition or country has implemented such thorough and detailed measures to help foreign companies enter its market,” said Alexander James Nelson, Deputy General Manager of TUTTl Élelmiszeripari Kft. Originally anticipating a three- to five-year timeline to establish a foothold in China, the company instead saw its products reach major import supermarkets and pharmacies across the country in just eight to nine months.

“The CIIE makes it significantly faster to turn exhibits into commodities ,” said Sun Ronglong, COO of Nippon Paint China. Following the global debut of its photocatalytic purification coating at last year’s CIIE, the company has begun production line setup at its plant in Guangzhou, south China's Guangdong province, with operations scheduled to start by year-end and scaled market applications planned for next year. “We have experienced the ‘CIIE effect’ firsthand and are more convinced than ever: investing in China is investing in the future,” Sun stated.

For foreign enterprises, the CIIE offers more than business growth—it promises a future of shared progress and collaboration.
