Zet’s Vintage Store founder, Musette Lax, is announcing the release of a new book, The Unknown Confidentiality of WWII: My Father’s Great Adventure on His Road Through Life, which became available in paperback and hardcover on November 15th, 2025, with e-book editions preceding the print launch. Drawing from her father Martin’s personal journals, short stories, and historical records, Musette offers readers an intimate glimpse into the life of a World War II combat veteran who was also a writer, historian, and physician.

“I didn’t want this to be another World War II book,” says Musette. “I inherited all of my dad’s writing from that period until much later. He kept handwritten journals, scrapbooks, photos, and letters from his time on the battlefield. I felt the world should know what that experience entailed. It’s all very personal and heartfelt.”

The book chronicles her father’s experiences on the front lines and his subsequent work in the historical department under notable American figures. Musette highlights that the book encompasses firsthand accounts, candid reflections, and short, vividly told stories that capture the harrowing yet human moments of combat. “It’s several mini stories, some that talk about an encounter on the Italian front to everyday acts of courage,” she says.

The narrative offers an unfiltered, educational, and deeply moving perspective. Many pages feature photography, while the cover design has been personally created by Musette herself, adding a unique and personal touch to the book.

Musette emphasizes that the book bridges historical education with emotional resonance: “The takeaway is educational, but it’s also a look at someone writing from the heart. My dad’s empathy and compassion shine through in his observations, qualities that later defined his career as a physician. I wanted readers to see him as a man, not just as a soldier.”

Born in New York City to a dress designer mother and a physician father, Musette grew up immersed in a world of artistry and intellectual pursuit. Her early years included formal dance training and art classes, all contributing to a keen sense of creativity and historical awareness. As her family relocated across the US due to her father's specialty in medicine, including time in Cocoa Beach, Florida, and Niagara Falls, New York, she maintained a deep appreciation for documenting and preserving family history.

Beyond writing, Musette channels her passion for curation and history into her longstanding vintage business, Zet’s Vintage Store, which has a wide selection of curated items. The attention to detail and preservation inherent in this hobby mirror her dedication to honoring her father’s legacy.

Musette defines the publishing of Unknown Confidentiality of WWII as both a labor of love and an intricate endeavor. “It’s really a work of love and very time-consuming. I wanted to ensure the authenticity of my dad’s experiences while making the book engaging for historians and general readers alike. Some areas were enhanced lightly, but the essence is entirely his voice.”

The book, she notes, caters to history enthusiasts, students, and anyone intrigued by the human stories behind historical events. Musette hopes that readers will gain both insight and inspiration, encountering a WWII narrative seen through the eyes of a man whose life combined service with compassion. The book is now available on e-commerce platforms and will soon be available directly through Musette’s website.

“Preserving my father’s writings has been my privilege,” Musette reflects. “It’s important to me that these stories are shared and appreciated. Every reader engaging with this book becomes part of his journey, and that’s incredibly rewarding.”
