AffirmedRx announces the appointment of Laurel Cipriani as Chief Information Officer. According to company leadership, Cipriani will oversee information technology strategy while supporting systems that enable prescription benefit administration and member support.
AffirmedRx operates as a Pharmacy Benefit Manager (PBM), administering prescription drug benefits on behalf of employers and organizations. From the company’s perspective, its role involves managing formularies, coordinating pharmacy access, and supporting members as they navigate prescription coverage. Structured as a public benefit corporation, AffirmedRx balances business operations with a stated commitment to transparency and patient advocacy.
Greg Baker, Chief Executive Officer of AffirmedRx, explains that the appointment reflects the organization’s focus on aligning technology leadership with healthcare realities. “Technology plays a critical role in how prescription benefits function day to day,” Baker says. “It’s important that leadership in this area understands both the technical systems and the clinical environments they support.”
Cipriani brings more than two decades of experience across clinical care, healthcare technology, and organizational transformation. Her professional background began in nursing and clinical practice, followed by advanced training in psychology and healthcare disciplines. According to Cipriani, those early experiences shaped her understanding of how technology decisions influence patient care and provider workflows.
She later transitioned into healthcare information technology leadership, a move she explains as intentional and grounded in firsthand clinical insight. “Clinical technology works best when it reflects how care actually happens,” Cipriani says. “Understanding the human side of healthcare has always guided how I think about systems and teams.”
Over the course of her career, Cipriani has led clinical application strategy, governance, training, and operational support within complex healthcare environments. From her perspective, those roles required translating technical complexity into systems that clinicians and staff could rely on with confidence. She has emphasized that stability, clarity, and trust are essential components of effective healthcare technology.
Cipriani is also scheduled to speak at Davos 2026, where she will engage with international leaders on responsible digital transformation in healthcare and the role of technology in advancing trust and transparency.
Baker notes that Cipriani’s background aligns with AffirmedRx’s organizational priorities as the company continues to evolve. “As we grow, our technology needs to remain reliable, secure, and understandable to the people who depend on it,” he says. “Laurel brings a perspective that connects technical rigor with an appreciation for human impact.”
