The change addresses a point in the sign-up process that previously had no middle step. Access to Findsio's lookup tools required subscribing directly, which meant a prospective user had to pay before seeing how the service handled the specific number, address or photo that had prompted the visit. Under the trial, that order is reversed: the search comes first, and the subscription decision follows.
What the tools do
Findsio's service lets people search a phone number, email address or photo to check for a possible name match, associated social media or dating profiles, and a spam risk score. The information is gathered from publicly available sources. The three lookup types are all covered by the trial period, so a user who signed up because of an unknown caller can also test the email and image searches within the same window.
The spam risk score is the element most directly tied to the everyday use case the company describes. Rather than returning a flat yes-or-no answer on a phone number, the score is presented as an indicator of risk, sitting alongside whatever name match or linked profiles the search surfaces.
