TECHWEEK: Bromance LLC, a Chicago-based start-up that aims to bridge the gap between the social network and the real world. Currently Bromance, for its original release, is targeting males between the ages of 21-40 who are looking to get up, get out and be active in both social and physical events. In additional phase releases the company will be opening this up to a women’s site as well as co-ed sponsored events. The application will be available for download from the iTunes AppStore in September, with a beta release on August 24, 2011. The Apple application will be free and in the near future the application will also be available for the Android platform.

Partners Jeffrey Canty, Jordan Perry, Brayden Wilmoth, and Nic Stauber created this technology out of a need. These four developers found in moving around during and after college that it was hard to find the right people with similar interests and places to go to in the new areas that they moved to. So they sat down and decided to create a location based application that would service the needs of meeting like-minded, fun, passionate-about getting-out and doing-things types of people. Not just adding to their Facebook friends, but meeting in person too.

According to Jeffrey Canty, “I moved to Chicago only three weeks ago from Atlanta Georgia, and already see the potential that Bromance has even just for me. I am the perfect candidate for this application, as I get used to the area. I moved to Chicago because this an up and coming tech mecca, not to mention the City is alive, people in the parks, riding bikes, running races, working out, sailing, and going out to the bars and nightclubs. “

In a recent article in Crains on July 22, 2011, Venture investments leap in Chicago written by John Pletz. Chicago is sourced as an area that outside investors are now looking to find new and innovative companies and tech companies to invest into.

According to Brayden Wilmoth, “Bromance wants to thank TechWeek for the opportunity to present at this great event in this awesome city. The contacts, technology, and the scene that we have been introduced to, has solidified our belief that this is the right city for us to launch in.”

The entire Bromance team is currently in Chicago due to TechWEEK 2011. TechWEEK is a conference and expo located at the Merchandise Mart focusing on discovering, innovation, and connection. Bromance has been in attendance at this event since Friday July 22, 2011 and will be exhibiting on Monday July 25, 2011. In addition, Bromance would like to invite all of the exhibitors, attendees, speakers, press, and anyone who is interested in learning more, as well as sponsors to a pre-launch party at Mother Hubbards, located at 5W Hubbard Street Chicago IL 60654. Bromance will provide demo materials and speak about the application, its features and its current development stage. While at the party the attendees will be able to sign up for the free Bromance beta test.

Everyone is invited, so please come join Bromance for free pizza, pool, drink specials and giveaways.
