ArcheryAuction.com, a new site for buying and selling archery gear, is expanding its impact by sponsoring a program that promotes archery in school systems. The mission of The National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP) is to help integrate international-style target archery as part of in-school curriculum.

Students can begin taking the 2-week physical education class as early as fourth grade. The course covers archery history, archery gear, safety, technique, mental concentration, core strengthening physical fitness and self-improvement. Teachers are required to undergo an 8-hour NASP Basic Archery Instructor Training Program before presenting the course.

“Equipment used is state-of-the art and designed to fit every student,” the NASP website explains. “Thanks to support from the archery gear industry, the $6,000 equipment 'kits' can be purchased by schools for $3,100 to $3,500 depending on which targets and bow hanging units are chosen.”

The NASP was created in Kentucky in 2002 and has since exposed millions of students to the sport of archery in the United States and numerous other countries.

The important benefits archery skills provide children are the reasons why Archery Auction owner, Geoff Patti, has made the decision to set aside funds from archery gear auctions to sponsor the NASP.
