World-renowned speaker, author and peak performance strategist Anthony Robbins has partnered with the nonprofit group Food Bank For New York City to help feed local families in need.
Unleash The Power Within®, Anthony Robbins’ cornerstone event, is coming to the Meadowlands March 29-April 1, 2012. For every ticket sold to the event, Robbins Research International will provide 50 meals to local families through a monetary donation to the Food Bank For New York City, with an overall goal of providing 150,000 meals. Anthony Robbins’ philosophy is, “The secret to living is giving.” He believes, “There is an unbelievable gift in life when you can step out of yourself and help someone else. The partnership with the Food Bank For New York City gives people an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of families in need, while making a difference in their own lives at the same time.”
What began nearly 30 years ago as Robbins' individual effort to feed homeless families has now grown into the Anthony Robbins Foundation's International Basket Brigade, which feeds more than three million people in more than 56 countries every year. His foundation has also provided support and initiated programs in more than 2,000 schools, 700 prisons and 100,000 service organizations and shelters.
“I was 11 years old when a man I'd never seen gifted my family with a huge basket of Thanksgiving goodies we couldn't afford ourselves,” stated Robbins. “In that moment I came upon a new meaning—strangers care. Soon after, I created the Basket Brigade to bring hope and food to those who need it most.”
“We’re grateful to have Tony’s support at such a critical time when three million New Yorkers are struggling to put food on the table. His sentiment is inspiring, and we hope it echoes through the city,” said Margarette Purvis, President and CEO, Food Bank For New York City.

ABOUT THE FOOD BANK FOR NEW YORK CITY:
For 28 years Food Bank For New York City has served as the city’s major hunger-relief organization, working to end food poverty throughout the five boroughs. As the city’s hub for integrated food poverty assistance, the Food Bank tackles the hunger issue on three fronts — food distribution, income support and nutrition education — all strategically guided by its research. Through its network of community-based member programs citywide, the Food Bank helps provide 400,000 free meals a day for New Yorkers in need. The Food Bank’s hands-on nutrition education program in the public schools reaches thousands of children, teens and adults. Income support services including food stamps, free tax assistance for the working poor and the Earned Income Tax Credit put millions of dollars back in the pockets of low-income New Yorkers, helping them to achieve greater dignity and independence. 94% of donations go directly toward food distribution, acquisition and programs in all five boroughs of New York City.
