Houston Orthodontist Supports Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Houston orthodontist Dr. Vladimir Tabakman of West Houston Orthodontics is pleased to announce his continued support of Susan G. Komen for the Cure with a new campaign for 2012.

For the past five years Dr. Tabakman, a Houston Invisalign Premier Provider, has endeavored to highlight the Race for the Cure by sponsoring events and fund-raising drives each October during “Breast Cancer Awareness Month.” The Houston Orthodontist campaign for 2012 highlights his dedication to the cause by exchanging donation funds for local support of the practice.

Dr. Tabakman has pledged to donate $1 to the Susan G. Komen Foundation for every new Facebook like by a Houston resident garnered between October 1st and October 31st to a maximum of $2,000. The page is http://www.facebook.com/WestHoustonOrthodontics.

“Beyond the practice’s core mission of providing premier Houston Invisalign and orthodontic care, I think that it’s important to highlight facets of our practice that show our involvement in the community,” states the Houston orthodontist, Dr. Tabakman. “I’m both personally and professionally dedicated to a number of worthwhile causes, but perhaps none more important than the battle to cure cancer. And hopefully by highlighting this philanthropy via social media, we can inspire our patients, their families, and the community at large to take action,” he continues. Then, when asked about the concept of exchanging Facebook likes for dollars to the Susan G. Komen Foundation, the Houston orthodontist replies, “The benefit to the Foundation is obvious and immediate. The benefit derived by the practice is having it shared between people in terms of something bigger than just orthodontics, ‘here’s a business that does the right thing.’ And the benefit to the participants will be realized when we find a cure for cancer.”

Komen for the Cure has played a major role in the fight against breast cancer, since 1982. The movement began with Nancy G. Brinker, sister of Susan D. Komen, who promised her dying sister that she would do whatever it took to end breast cancer forever. Since that promise, more than 20 years ago, the foundation has invested more than $1.9 billion to the fight.
