Natomas, CA children’s dentist Dr. Bryan Randolph of the Tooth Station fights the scourge of Halloween candy cavities by treating children to sweets that actually FIGHT cavities.
Xylitol, a naturally occurring sweetener found in corn cobs or the fibrous material of tree bark, has been demonstrated in studies to reduce the occurrence of cavities. Thus, candy made from xylitol not only tastes great, but actually helps to curb the negative effects of more traditional Halloween candy.
On Wednesday October 31st at the Natomas Public Library, Dr. Bryan Randolph and his staff are treating local Natomas children to a Halloween-themed storytime, an interactive game to help children choose the ‘spooky’ foods and the ‘ sparkly’ foods, and of course a cavity-fighting treat bag to take home. This event takes place from 11am – 11:30am.
Tooth decay is the number one chronic health problem of children in the United States, with over 70% of children in California experiencing tooth decay by the third grade. It is estimated that more than 1/2 million of California’s children missed school in the previous 12 months due to dental problems. When left untreated, dental decay can become severe enough to require emergency room treatment, an exceedingly expensive way to treat a highly preventable disease.
Dr. Randolph children’s dental offices in Natomas. CA and Folsom, CA focus on preventing dental problems before they happen. Halloween is a perfect time to build awareness of what has become a national epidemic for children and bring attention to a candy alternative that can help bring a stop to it.
Dr. Bryan Randolph is a children’s dentist with offices in Natomas, CA and Folsom, CA who treats children from around the Sacramento area. He has extensive training in the unique dental needs of infants, toddlers, children, adolescents, and young adults and emphasizes preventative treatment.
