New Limited-Edition BMWs Feature Style, Substance for Snowy Weather

BMW recently announced a pair of limited-edition models that will offer their lucky buyers an abundance of style, performance and comfort for getting through the long winter ahead. The BMW 6 Series Coupe Frozen Silver Edition is the first 6 Series to don a special coat of Frozen Silver paint, while the BMW Individual X6 Performance Edition sports activity vehicle (SAV) will boost power and capability compared to existing X6 models.

Based on the BMW 650i Coupe, the BMW 6 Series Coupe Frozen Silver Edition will be available with rear-wheel drive or winter-ready xDrive all-wheel drive when it arrives in January. With just 55 versions being made, the Frozen Silver Edition will complement its exotic finish with 20-inch M Performance wheels, dark-chrome exhaust tips and Shadowline exterior trim. Inside, the M Sport Package equips the coupe with an M steering wheel and driver's side footrest, while the Cold Weather Package in all-wheel-drive models adds heat to the steering wheel and includes a ski storage bag.

"Drivers that are considering a 6 Series Coupe but don't want their car to be copied in the company parking lot will love the Frozen Silver Edition's smooth, ice-like finish and sporty accents," said Phil Driscoll, general manager of BMW Gallery of Norwood, a Massachusetts BMW dealer. "On the other hand, luxury buyers that feel more at home twisting confidently along backroads will find the X6 Performance Edition hard to beat."

Only 100 units of the BMW Individual X6 Performance Edition will be produced, split evenly between xDrive35i and xDrive50i trims, and deliveries will begin in December. An M Performance Package increases output in both iterations, adding 15 horsepower to the X6 xDrive35i and 40 horsepower to the X6 xDrive50i for totals of 315 horsepower and 440 horsepower, respectively. Pearl Silver metallic paint, 20-inch Y-Spoke wheels and black chrome exhaust tips distinguish the exterior, while the inside is marked by seats and door panels featuring black leather with orange contrast stitching. Like the Frozen Silver 6 Series, a Cold Weather Package is included in the X6 Performance Edition to create a cozier après-ski ride.

For skiers and riders that spend as much time as possible at the slopes, BMW has designed a special edition of its new 2013 X1 sports activity vehicle. Developed through a partnership with ski manufacturer K2, the BMW X1 Powder Ride Edition will arrive later this month in xDrive28i and xDrive35i forms. Buyers of the Powder Ride Edition will find everything they need for trips to the mountains, including roof rails, BMW's 460 roof box, all-weather floor mats, a unique ski and snowboard bag, and even a custom pair of K2 LTD Powder Ride skis.

Available in four colors that match the shades of winter, the X1 Powder Ride Edition also comes with BMW's full set of xLine equipment, which ranges from 18-inch light-alloy wheels to a sports leather steering wheel and fabric/leather seat upholstery. Meanwhile, a special X-shaped graphic on the doors and wheel arches designates the compact crossover as a special-edition model.

"The X1 Powder Ride Edition will let skiers carve up a mountain in their vehicle just as well as they can on their skis," added Driscoll. "When it snows in the White Mountains or Vermont, the model's all-wheel drive will make sure you get to the lifts to enjoy the fresh powder, and its versatility will allow you to transport all your gear comfortably and conveniently."
