The shape and look of a woman’s breasts are affected by many factors including pregnancy, exercise and weight gain/loss. Irreversible damage can be done to breasts, if they aren’t properly supported, particularly during exercise. When breasts move around, the ligaments are stretched, and there is no way to repair the stretched ligaments, leading to drooping and sagging breasts, which can affect women’s confidence.

For some women who are unhappy with the size and shape of their breasts, Breast Augmentation surgery is the solution for them, and the medical experts at The Harley Medical Group have been treating women for 30 years. Breast Augmentation is most suitable for underdeveloped breasts, asymmetrical breast or reduced breast due to weight loss or pregnancy.

Hannah Roberts, senior nurse at The Harley Medical Group, says: “During the procedure, incisions are made along the natural crease of the breast, in the armpit or the underside of the nipple area, and the implant is then inserted behind the natural breast tissue. The surgery takes between one and two hours, and patients stay in hospital overnight.

Immediately after surgery patients wear a specialist sports bra for between eight and 12 weeks after the operation, to provide strong support for the breasts, during the recovery process. Most patients rest at home for around a week, before returning to work.

Linda Hayle, 43 year old Breast Augmentation patient at The Harley Medical Group, says: “After I had my two children, I noticed my breasts had changed shape considerably; they were quite saggy and I lost a lot of the fullness. I started looking into my options, and decided to have surgery after I had researched online and spoken to a couple of my friends who had surgery. I’m so pleased I did it; the medical team looked after me so well, and I’m thrilled with the results. It’s given me a new lease of life!”
