Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association announces election of new president

The Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association, the largest specialty bar association in the state, today announced the June 10th election of Douglas P. Mahoney

The Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association (CTLA), the largest specialty bar association in the state, today announced the June 10th election of Douglas P. Mahoney, attorney and partner at the law firm of Tremont & Sheldon, Bridgeport, to the position of President for 2013-2014.

Mahoney, born and raised in Ridgefield, has practiced law in Connecticut for 20 years with a concentration in personal injury, to include automobile and motorcycle accidents, premises security, uninsured motorist cases, assaults, negligence by police officials, construction accidents, errors committed by insurance agents, bars who over-serve alcohol, and premises liability. He has represented victims of sexual abuse and has argued cases before the Connecticut Superior Court, Appellate Court and the Connecticut Supreme Court.

An active CTLA member since passing the Bar, Mahoney has chaired the Membership Committee, Bridgeport (CTLA) People’s Law School and has served in a leadership capacity on the CTLA Board of Governors, Executive Committee, Public Relations Committee and Budget Committee. He is a member of the Standing Committee on Recommendations to the Bar in Fairfield County and sits as a Special Master for the Connecticut Superior Court and has served in the capacity of President of the Greater Bridgeport Bar Association.

Mahoney leads a team of other newly-elected CTLA officers who include Angelo Ziotas, Silver Golub & Teitell, Stamford, as president-elect; Rosemarie Paine, Jacobs & Dow, New Haven, as Vice President; Michael D’Amico, D’Amico, Griffin & Pettinicchi, Watertown, as Treasurer; James Horwitz, Koskoff, Koskoff & Bieder, Bridgeport, as Secretary; D. Lincoln Woodard, Moukawsher & Walsh, West Hartford, as Parliamentarian; and Michael Walsh, Moukawsher & Walsh, West Hartford as Past President.
