The Queens Athletic Federation, a sports company based in Queens, New York, is hosting its first annual Jets Fans vs. Giants Fans flag football scrimmage under its newly formed QFL brand of Flag Football, to start the month off right in support of Movember, the global men’s health charity that raises awareness and funds for men’s health through the power of the moustache.

QFL Flag Football is a semi-contact adult men’s flag football league that is seeking men ages 18-50 to participate in flag football and the fun, fitness, competition and camaraderie that extends the enjoyment of the game of football well past the Super Bowl.

Movember is a month-long campaign to raise awareness and funds for men’s health. During November each year, Movember is responsible for the sprouting of millions of moustaches on men's faces around the world. Through their efforts, vital funds and awareness are raised to combat prostate and testicular cancer and mental health challenges. Since its humble beginnings in 2003 in Melbourne, Australia, Movember has grown to become a truly global movement inspiring more than 3 Million Mo Bros and Mo Sistas to participate across 21 countries worldwide.

As the official rules of Movember state, all male participants must begin clean-shaven on the 1st of November and grow just a moustache (no beards, no goatees) for the 30 days of November.

“Movember closely aligns with our own initiatives to support men’s health through physical fitness,” stated Paul Persaud, President and CEO of the Queens Athletic Federation. “Giants fans and Jets fans are some of the most passionate fans in the world, and we urge them to come together and share in the spirit of competition and their support for men’s health, something which is important to us all.”

The scrimmage, which is part of the QFL preseason activities, will be played on November 3 and will start with an orientation at 10am and kickoff at 11am at Roy Wilkins Southern Queens Park in Jamaica, Queens. The scrimmage will feature 5 on 5 play with two teams of 10 players each. The Queens Athletic Federation will provide blue and green “pinnie” jerseys, flag belts and footballs for the participants. The company states there will be no charge for participation, but would appreciate any donation. All proceeds from the event will be donated to the Movember cause. Individuals who cannot attend, but still would like to donate to the cause, can do so online at the team's Movember page.
